mayhem and destruction.

There will be a monster photo post hopefully by Monday- the delay is due to several interesting happenings this week-
1. Turned twenty nine. I love being twenty nine. Fab.
2. In order to avoid a head on collision, I rammed my car unto the bumper of a Hummer. Yep. I hit a parked HumV. It took ten guys to lift my white subee off of the bumper- kinda soured my day.
3. Friday showed at Evergreen while loading the cosmetically injured subee with art supplies in order to move into my new studio space in downtown Bend. While Evergreen has been very good to me, I will now be able to bike to work at the studio- therefore lessening the chance of hitting another parked Hummer.
4. While walking around the show at Evergreen, I tripped. In order to catch myself- I cracked the screen of my phone, which means I can't see the pictures I was planning on posting, or anything else for that matter. But I can still answer it- so feel free to call anytime. The thing is- I hadn't even touched the wine and cheese when I tripped- bother. Who needs technology anyway.

Next Friday is Redmond's art walk. (They changed the name from Art Walk Explore to Walk the art Beat. I like the previous name much better.) There will be a group show at Evergreen- and Lisa and I will be participating. Festivities start at Five- so swing by!

I am still at Mountain this week- but have been packing up my studio in my spare time. Officially moving my art endeavors to Bend... More on that soon...

The Sparrow Chair Has a Home

I got a thank you today from the organizer of the Sparrow Club Chair-ity event... The final bid for my chair was $100 (a fine amount) and they raised over $2000 from the auction, very good. I don't know who it was that won my chair, but I surely hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed transforming it.

In other news, Lisa and I hang the show tomorrow night. My, my, my.

I am enjoying a breather from typing up artist statements and what not, Kelty is contorted on the couch in between Owl and me, and he is pulling up Bon Iver on YouTube with Dexter on his lap. Happy Family.

Titles, Particulars, and Finishing Touches

Ahh, The Homestretch.

So, the last few days have been nonstop art (minus a few Yoga Breaks). Friday, I worked from home finishing up the sixth piece. I have two more that are in progress, but I won't rush them. If they get finished, well Gravy.
Saturday, I watched the shop for Lisa while she got baby showered, using the time to cut mats and finish up details. I could go over and over each piece with a fine tooth comb, obsessing slightly with minute details that only I will see, tinkering with edges of lines, tiny shifts of color.

Now for the final tasks... coming up with titles and prices. We plan on hanging the show on Wednesday Evening- but the placards and my artist statement are going to be typed up tomorrow. I have been tossing around the idea of pricing the work as 'two weeks worth of organic groceries' or 'one bike rack for my Subaru' (both Owl and my good friend Chris suggested two cases of Deschutes Brew- but we know who would really be getting paid with that, now don't we). I like the idea of a barter system. I tried to log the amount of hours that went into each piece, so maybe I should present it that way- I think I put at least thirty hours into each one. How much is an hour of art making worth?
