She's Like the Wind
This map is pretty much my favorite thing right now. I could stare at it for hours, and I keep on looking for the face of Ma Theresa or Patrick Swayze in the breezy currents. It's helping shake loose some ideas that have been stuck in gutters for a while (stories that go with the previously mentioned project). I highly recommend this fascinating websight if you are planning on tying messages to balloons, or if you want to send out some dandelion seeds. Or if you are an amateur meteorologist like my old dad. Or if you are Mary Poppins. Or all of the above. Happy Sunday.

Begin, now.
Back for first friday in June, I painted a map on the studio floor as my contribution to the PoetHouse and TBD's themed, loft-wide show entitled "where do we come from." It was funny watching patrons follow the arrows (some even did loop-de-loos) and laugh at some of the miss- spellings I applied to the different stops along the way. Cyr took some beautiful photos of it, which I just now procured. I will try to put it in order of the path as you follow it, but we shall see...

Mapmaker, Mapmaker, make me a Map.
Cyr helped me document my little paintings I did for the Cycle Cross show back in December. I find it comforting sometimes when life is feeling a little chaotic to draw a silly map. Partially inspired by CandyLand, and partially inspired by the journey's of Billy in Family Circus, my own versions are pen, ink and a little paint. It's all about the journey, right? At the moment, I am creating another one on a longboard skateboard deck for PUSH, the Skateboard Art Auction benefits the Division Street Skatepark Project.

art+ bike Love
In a couple weeks, thousands of rowdy bicycles will ascend on our little town for a cyclo-cross championship.
The PoetHouse, along with the TBD Loft and many downtown business, is hosting a special mid-month Friday Art Hop, focusing on two-wheels for inspiration. My collages will be on display at Clutch, but I am working on something slightly different for the PoetHouse. The development of my compass obsession has moved onto maps, I have been creating whimsical little map narratives on paper and wood with pen and ink, and this week I will move into paint as well... A sneak peak:
