There is a wonderful interview on Fresh Air today about the idea of artistic license, image rights, and the purple areas in between. Shepherd Ferry, the artist who composed the poster through hand and digital manipulation of an Associated Press photo by freelance photographer Manny Garcia. As an artist, and especially as an artist who uses print sources for materials, I find the debate about intellectual property fascinating.
