I am participating in the third year of Bohemia Gallery's "Good Thing's Come in Small Packages" show.  These little birds are all about four by four inches, diminutive for sure. I am about to frame them up and ship them out, just in the nick of time...

Etsy Updates, Events Upcoming, Everything Unusual

Back in the Studio, after a restful holiday, hit the ground running...

I spent this beautiful, very un-Decemberlike day working on all things internet.

I am hoping to soon get back to actually discussing the creative process instead of just updating on goings on, but Until that happens- How about a List-

  • Several Artists I know are gearing up for Red Friday... Including my friend Christine over at DuBuhDu who has made some lovely ornaments...  Check out my Etsy Shop as well (the link is over that way---- to the right and down)
  • The PoetHouse has started a new fundraiser to pay the rent, so the artists don't have to.  The resident artists donated a piece of artwork to have reproduced and sold locally, with all proceeds going to the PoHo.  They look lovely.
  • Good Things Come in Small Packages opens this Friday, at Bohemia Gallery in Ashland.
  • First Friday this week at the PoHo will feature the work of Tom Monson- Check out his work if you are in town, his site is super cool too.

about face

Miss Little is starting to really come around. I continued feather shapes for the structure of her face, which is a little dramatic and may be a little too faceted, but I think that when I add the details it will settle down a bit.

The calender for the fall is really starting to fill up-
This Saturday is Elevate- the underground art festival- and PoetHouse will be hosting a booth as well as some LookieLoos (don't know what a LookieLoo is? Think Jellystone Park: Yogi and BooBoo painted on a board with holes cut out at the heads, then stick your head through the hole and smile for the camera... super fun)
I have a show booked for the end of October at The PoetHouse, with three fellow art ladies, more on that soon-
I was asked to participate in the Good Things Come in Small Packages show at Bohemia again this December.
Time flies and there is much art to be made.

The Opening

Last Friday brought the opening of "Good Things Come in Small Packages" at Bohemia Gallery in Ashland, Oregon. Openings are odd. If you take away the idea that the purpose of a show is to sell things, it takes on a different function. It becomes a mile marker. It becomes an epilogue. It becomes a wave goodbye to kids dropped off at college.
The idea of success is a shifty thing. Was the show successful because I had pieces I felt great about up on a white wall? Was it unsuccessful since I didn't see any little red dots that scream "sold" next to any of my pieces (yet)? Is it successful because I saw several people smile as they stood and stared? Are all these thoughts just a distraction?
So now, it's back to the studio. Time to buckle down, create some more work. Which is the best part anyway.
