and I quote...

Last year, I predicted the following-

"I don't want to make predictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if the scale of my pieces becomes stretched and expansive in response to living in such small quarters; and I wouldn't be surprised if I start drawing dogs, dogs and more dogs.  Most of all, I hope I can keep an energy level up and create something (beautiful or ugly, who cares) every single day."

Let's follow up on those predictions, shall we?

  1.  While the scale of my work did grow slightly larger, I wouldn't say it has gotten expansive.  If anything, it's gotten more and more detailed, which means smaller and smaller paper cuts.
  2. Lions, Owls, Birds in my art- but no Dogs.
  3.   The energy level- thanks to bikram yoga, the love and encouragement of old friends and new (thanks y'all) I feel like this prediction came true.  It wasn't the easiest year by any stretch of the imagination, but it was one full of energy in many forms- changes, hope, growth, back bends...
  4. Did I create something every day?  No.  But the year of 2008 easily wins the title of  "my most creative year ever."  And for that I am very glad.

If anything- 2008 also was full of things I never ever could have predicted in my most crystal clear of crystal balls.  It's gonna take some digestion.

And 2009?  God willing and the creek don't rise...
